It includes a recognition game in the menu so that they learn to match the letter sound with the letter itself.She was also able to recall their sounds without the visual portion as well which, of course, made Mommy sooo proud!. Even my 2-yr-old was able to recognize the entire alphabet and knew their sounds by the 4th time she watched the dvd. It did wonders for them with recognizing letters and their phonics. I bought this product actually as a gift for my nephew, who reportedly, loves it and is driving my ("big")sister crazy playing it over and over and over again!!!
